It's random, but then again, that's the point."

Simple_With_Two_Colors

It's so easy to get caught up in selecting alot of color or materiality when designing an interior. Since there is such a trend toward decoration and heavy layering right now I was refreshed to see these edited interior design solutions. There are two colors used primarily in these interiors and I think the spaces feel modern and contemplative.
House in Australia, wood and white walls! The nature outside is the focus.

Christmas_LA_Style

Ok, it's warm here, there isn't any snow. I spent Thanksgiving at the beach with my family, how in the world can it feel like Christmas in LA. Well of course LA does it uniquely, which is not surprising. Here are a few shots from 4th and Main street downtown. I thought this was beautiful!

LA_from_afar

When Scott and I decided to move to LA we really knew what we were getting into, we had spent 9 months living in the city and going back and forth between Seattle and LA. We spent alot of time exploring the area since it was all new to us. LA is big and we felt it driving around trying to find our way. Not until we visited Griffith Park and looked down on the sprawl and smog did we realize how big LA really is. Here is a shot from Griffith Park on an average day, see how the streets go on endlessly. This shot maybe shows 1/4 of Los Angeles.

Retna_Spotted_in empty space

I spotted this Retna piece while walking from my apartment to the fashion district in downtown LA. On this particular street, Los Angeles Street, stores are always coming and going. Lately there have been alot of empty spaces popping up. I was pleasantly surprised when I peeked through the window of this store front to see Retna had painted his famous characters on the columns. Who ever rents this retail space should definitely keep the artwork and base the store design around them.

DTLA_Art_Walk

I thought this month's art walk might be a little light since it's December and alot of people are preparing for the holidays. However, I was sooooo wrong. The art this month was so unexpected. From the Sharpie show at Crew West Gallery to the street performers sprinkled throughout downtown this month's art walk was off the hook! Here are some shots I took from around town.
Digital Graffiti wall at CB Gallery

I just discovered this artist her name is Katie Monahan. She is exploring faces with a new technique that I thought was brilliant.

From Crew West's Sharpie show. all the art was made using only sharpie pens
